An open and sunny slope area is the most suitable habitat for esker plants and insects, but some bird species like to live in gravel pits, too. The living conditions of the species in sunny slope areas can be improved by keeping the ground open and breaking the soil. On the other hand, former commercial edge forests slowly return to a natural state on their own.
