The challenge in conserving plants and insects in sun-exposed areas is keeping the ground open. Overgrowth is prevented by active nature management, such as cutting down seedling stands and invasive alien species.

In Kakslammi, substainable use of nature is organized by combining the conservation of species and active recreational use of the area. In the former gravel extraction area, there are popular hiking trails and disc golf courses, and the active use of them helps to keep the ground open. Vuokko Foundation for Nature Conservation manages the area in cooperation with Ryttylän Kiri sports club and Hausjärvi municipality.

Both people and bugs enjoy themselves!
